Lacquer art

Profile

I learned lacquering in Kanazawa and now produce urushi art as a means of expression.
I produce small sculptures and accessories through the process of wood carving, urushi coating and decoration with natural materials such as gold, silver, shells, eggshells, etc.

Main works:

  •  “plant collecting” (2013~)
    A series of works resembling samples of imaginary plants
  •  “Wearing scenery” (2015~)
    Accessories depicting Japanese sceneries in a picturesque style

1981 Born in Ishikawa Prefecture
2006 Graduated from Kanazawa College of Art (Faculty of Arts and Craft, Crafts Course)
2013 Completed the training program of Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo
Currently, I am a part time instructor at Tohoku University of Art and Design, and have lived in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, since 2021
